Awakening Joy - 10 Steps Towards True Happiness
Awakening Joy - 10 Steps Towards True Happiness
(Inspired by Awakening Joy - James Baraz & Shoshone Alexander)
In OPD, we often hear, “Doctor, I have everything… but no happiness.”
Despite having work, responsibilities, and family, there’s a feeling of emptiness somewhere inside.
This book shares a simple yet profound truth – happiness is not a goal. It’s an experience to be awakened daily.
Below are 10 steps towards true happiness:
1. Don't search for happiness outside. It’s an illusion that happiness will come when circumstances change. Focusing on what you have increases contentment.
2. Attention is power. What you focus on determines the flavor of your life. Notice what is good.
3. Gratitude is a daily habit. You don't need anything grand. Today's tea, sleep, a smile – that's enough.
4. Happiness is not the absence of problems. Sadness and fatigue will come. Happiness means remaining stable even with them.
5. Be a little gentle with yourself. We are often too harsh on ourselves. Start kindness with yourself first.
6. Do a little for others. A phone call, a message, a small help lightens the heart.
7. If you want to calm your mind, you first need to stop your body's rush. Happiness isn't just in thoughts. Slow breathing, a little rest makes a big difference.
8. Reduce comparison. Everyone's time and path are different. Remember that Social media is not reality.
9. Not Motivation, routine is important. Motivation comes and goes. Small daily habits sustain happiness.
10. Don't postpone happiness for 'later'. The perfect time rarely comes. Awaken a small joy in today itself.
Happiness is not a future reward. It’s a present skill.
Out of these 10, which step do you find most essential today? Do write in the comments. Clarity grows through discussion.
