The Mahabharata War Had Ended

Just For Hearts1 min read

The Mahabharata war had ended. The Kuru dynasty was destroyed.

Gandhari, whose hundred sons were killed in the war, was in perpetual sorrow.

Days passed, weeks passed. Her eyes dried from crying. The sorrow was so immense that time seemed to have stopped.

One day, Krishna came to Hastinapura. He stood before Gandhari.

Gandhari looked at him and said,

“Krishna… my sorrow is unbearable. But still, I see time moving forward. My mind, my body, everything is somehow continuing.

Even for a moment, my mind turns elsewhere… and I cannot bear it.”

At that moment, she realized that no matter how great the sorrow, the human mind cannot hold onto it forever.

And from this very pain, she curses Krishna:

“Just as my lineage was destroyed, so too will your lineage be destroyed in the course of time.”

Krishna does not reply. He accepts the curse. Because he knows that this curse is not born of anger, but of unbearable sorrow.

Sometimes time, Sometimes the body, Sometimes a simple realization Moves the mind forward.

And perhaps That is the truth of life:

Any sorrow lasts only until the next experience.
