What Exactly is the Critical Phase of Dengue Fever?

The critical phase of Dengue Fever occurs 2–3 days after the fever subsides. This phase is also called the defervescence phase.

During this time, the fever may no longer be present, but the risk is higher. There can be plasma leakage in the blood, a drop in platelets, and a continuous risk of dehydration.

Care to be taken during this phase: - Provide plenty of water, coconut water, and electrolytes. - Do not let the patient feel free just because the fever is gone. - Continuously monitor Blood Pressure, symptoms, platelets, and urine output. - If bleeding, vomiting, stomach pain, or dizziness occurs, go to the hospital immediately. - Do not try to increase platelets without a doctor's advice.
