Evening Snacks: Habit or Genuine Hunger?
Do we really eat evening snacks because we are hungry, or is it just a habit?
1. Why do we feel like eating in the evening? - The brain is tired, increasing dopamine craving. - Stress from the day makes us crave comfort food. - We are often distracted by scrolling on phones, ignoring true hunger signals.
2. What happens in the body at this time? - Digestion slows down due to circadian rhythm. - Insulin sensitivity decreases, making sugar more harmful. - Snacking confuses the leptin signal that indicates fullness. - Constant munching can cause bloating, acidity, and weight gain.
3. What should you do? - Check if you are truly hungry. - Wait for 20 minutes and drink water. - If you must eat, choose soup, a handful of peanuts, fruits, or buttermilk. - Avoid daily combos like tea and farsan.
4. Why is eating in the evening sometimes bad? - For healthy individuals, a light snack is fine. - But those with acidity, diabetes, PCOS, thyroid issues, fatty liver, or insomnia should avoid evening snacking for better health.
5. Eat only when hungry. Eating out of habit can disrupt the body's natural rhythm.
Think about whether your evening snack today was necessary or just a habit. What light snack suits you best? Share in the comments!
