Ricin: The Explosion of a Biological Poison!

What is Ricin? • Ricin is an extremely toxic protein toxin produced from the residues of Castor Beans. • Even a few milligrams of ricin can be fatal!

How is Ricin used? • It enters the body through inhalation or skin contact in powder, gas, or liquid form. • It is used in biowarfare and terrorist attacks because it is hard to detect and highly effective.

Symptoms and Risks: 1. Difficulty breathing, vomiting, headache, fever. 2. Liver, kidney, and lung failure can occur. 3. Death is possible within 72 hours – there is no antidote or preventive treatment available!

What is the treatment? • No specific treatment. • Immediate ICU care based on symptoms is necessary. • Delay can be fatal.

Ricin and Biological Warfare: • It is used in warfare as an "invisible killer" against enemies. • Ricin is considered a biological weapon by terrorists because it is easily available and can be used without suspicion.

Advice for the General Public: • Do not panic but stay alert. • If you notice sudden smells, irritating smoke, or unusual behavior in public places, contact local authorities. • Seek immediate medical help if anything suspicious is observed.
