The Story of a Branded Human Albumin Injection

This is the story of a branded Human Albumin injection.

A patient in the ICU was in a very critical condition. There was a long list of daily injections.

One day, a relative of the patient noticed the medicine bill. Among the items was a Human Albumin injection priced at ₹8000! He asked, "Why is this so expensive?"

The hospital medical store replied, "This is routine; these are the rates everywhere."

But the relative did not stay silent. He went to an outside medical store. There, the same injection was available for ₹5500! He immediately bought it and returned to the hospital.

Showing it to the hospital medical staff, they said, "You cannot use this here; you must buy it here."

The relative said, "Okay, but say all this on camera."

The medical staff got confused and then said, "Your outside injection is also good, but we will give it to you for ₹5000 — just return the outside one."

The relative went back to the outside store. The chemist initially said, "I will not take it back."

After some time, the chemist offered, "Take it for ₹4500. Or if the hospital gives it for ₹4500, I will take it back fully."

He returned to the hospital. The hospital said, "Okay, we will give it for ₹4000 — just return the outside injection."

Finally, the relative wisely said, "Okay, but adjust this ₹4000 from the earlier ₹8000 bill!"

For the same medicine, there were two different branded products, not generic. But the price, responses, and offers kept changing.
