We Changed... But What Exactly Did We Lose?
Looking at this 1960s photo of Mumbai, a simple question arises: where exactly did we change so much?
The difference isn't huge; it lies in small habits.
- Then there was walking... today there's sitting. (Station, market, work – everything was on foot. Today, even for 500 meters, we use a vehicle.) - Then there was home-cooked food... today it's an ordering culture. (Timely, simple, fresh meals. Today, processed food, late meals.) - Then the day had an end... today the screen doesn't. (At night, the body used to sleep. Today, mobile scrolling continues.) - Then work meant movement... today work means screen. (The body was used. Today, only fingers and eyes do most of the work.) - Then there was less comparison... today there's more social media. (Living with oneself. Today, constant comparison leads to stress.) - Then the routine was stable... today timings are disrupted. (Fixed times, fixed sleep. Today, odd working hours, disturbed rhythm.)
These small changes have caused significant harm. Our metabolism quietly deteriorated, and we didn't even realize it.
And then began: - Diabetes - BP - Heart Disease - Fatty Liver
In short, we increased conveniences, but we reduced the use of our bodies.
This photo isn't just nostalgia; it's a warning.
Can we still stop in time and change direction?
Today's question: Which of these has affected you the most? - Less movement - Screen / social media - Changed eating habits - Increased stress
Choose one in the comments... perhaps the change will start from there.
