One Dog Bite Can Be Fatal: Don't Take Rabies Risk Lightly

A single dog bite can end a life. Do not take the risk of rabies lightly.

A 22-year-old kabaddi player from Uttar Pradesh, Brijesh Solanki, died from rabies after being bitten by a puppy three months ago and not receiving the vaccine. Videos of his suffering from rabies are very distressing.

Here is a brief about rabies: 1. 100% fatal – once symptoms appear, there is no cure. 2. After every bite, immediately get the vaccine plus Immunoglobulin (IVIG). 3. Vaccine schedule: days 0, 3, 7, 14, 28 – do not miss any day. 4. Even if the dog is vaccinated, the risk remains. 5. Wash the wound with soap and water for 15 minutes – this is the first treatment. 6. Do not ignore any wound from bites, scratches, or licks. 7. Love animals, but caution is true care. 8. Ensure timely vaccination of pets.

Whether a lovingly kept pet or a stray on the street, rabies does not discriminate. Delay can be fatal and leave no cure.
