Constant Stress? Is Your Sympathetic System in Overdrive?

Constant stress?

Pay attention to whether your Sympathetic System is in 'overdrive'.

Stress, speed, and being constantly prepared can be beneficial for the body... but only for a short time.

What if this 'alert' state continues 24/7? This is called Sympathetic Overdrive.

This condition often triggers many diseases without us realizing it due to mental confusion.

1. High Blood Pressure (High BP) - a constant alarm! Being constantly alert, heart racing, irritability cause Blood Pressure to remain high. This increases the risk of heart disease and stroke.

2. Poor Sleep Quality Sympathetic Overdrive prevents the brain from calming down. Constant thoughts disturb sleep.

3. Weight not increasing or even decreasing Many say: “I am stressed but still eat a lot or not at all.” This hormonal imbalance is due to cortisol and sugar cravings.

4. Anxiety, Panic, Irritability, Hidden Mental Fatigue A restless mind means mental fatigue, often unnoticed for a long time. This invites panic attacks and mood swings.

5. Diabetes + Heart Disease - Sympathetic Overdrive is the linking factor! Sugar spikes, insulin resistance, and BP elevation all center around sympathetic overdrive.

How to recognize it? • Resting heart rate constantly high (80+ bpm?) • Difficulty falling asleep, waking up at night? • Mind not calming down even after relaxing? • BP fluctuations? • Digestive issues?

What can you do? • Daily 20-30 minutes walking or pranayama • Breathing exercises – especially 4-7-8 breathing • Screen detox – keep phone away for some time • Practice “Slow Down” whenever possible • Consult a psychiatrist if needed

Just like a car’s accelerator pressed continuously causes brake failure, an overloaded sympathetic system causes the body to collapse.

Take a small break today to think. Recharge your nervous system; it is the backbone of your overall health!
