Tiny Habits: The Big Impact of Small Changes (Lessons from B.J. Fogg's Book)

When we try to change habits, most people start with big actions like going to the gym, strict diets, or major routines. But B.J. Fogg says, “Emotions create habits, not motivation.” This means the start should be small, joyful, and easy.

Here are some lessons I liked from this book for both patients and healthy individuals:

1. Anchor: Link a new habit to something you already do. For example, drink a glass of water after brushing your teeth.

2. Start small: Do one push-up daily and gradually increase. Don’t aim for a big goal on day one.

3. Celebrate: Celebrate small successes. Smiling or clapping a little helps your brain reward the habit.

4. Emotions > Motivation: Don’t rely on motivation alone. Habits stick better when done joyfully.

5. Compounding Effect: Small daily changes lead to big differences over months. For example, walking 3 minutes after meals can control sugar and weight over a year.

My opinion: Whether you are a patient or healthy, remember “Small is powerful.” Small, simple, joyful changes definitely improve long-term health.

Start one small habit today. Its benefit after 5 years will be beyond imagination.

In the coming days, I will share more detailed posts with explanations and examples for each point that you can immediately apply.
