Just a Fever... But It Can Disrupt Your Health!
"Just a fever... but it disrupts everything!"
There has been an increase in patients around us experiencing cold, fever, body aches, cough, and fatigue.
Sometimes a simple fever lasts 8-10 days but does not get better quickly.
Here are 8 important things to understand and not panic about:
1. What are the symptoms? Fever, body pain, headache, sweating, fatigue, sore throat, cough – initially everything seems normal.
2. When are tests necessary? - Fever lasts more than 3 days - Excessive fatigue or sweating - Platelet count tests (for Dengue, viral infections), CBC, CRP, Malaria tests are useful
3. When to admit to hospital? - Very high fever (104°F+) - Vomiting, loss of appetite, very low platelets - Low blood pressure, confusion
4. What care to take at home? - Plenty of water and electrolytes - Body needs rest - Steam inhalation, gargles, and necessary medicines for cold and fever
5. How should the diet be? - Thin, easily digestible food - Small frequent meals - Light food for digestion - Fruit juices, coconut water, buttermilk
6. Why does fatigue persist? It can take 1-2 weeks to fully recover after the body fights the infection. Many experience prolonged cough, fatigue, and irritability as a normal pattern currently.
7. Why does cough persist? Dryness of throat, allergies, or viral inflammation can cause cough lasting 10-15 days. Proper steam and warm water help.
8. When to see a doctor immediately? - Difficulty breathing - Constant sleepiness - Dizziness - Complete loss of appetite
This is viral... but do not panic.
If you take proper care attentively, you can recover at home.
But negligence can be costly.
