Vitamin B12 Deficiency / 3 Types and Symptoms

Mild B12 Deficiency: 200 – 300 pg/mL - Feeling tired - Lack of concentration - Slight forgetfulness - Dizziness - Slight darkness before the eyes

Moderate B12 Deficiency: 100 – 200 pg/mL - Tingling in hands and feet - Coldness in feet - Slight imbalance while walking - Redness and pain on the tongue - Reduced appetite - Slight irritability or depression

Severe B12 Deficiency: Less than 100 pg/mL - Weakness in legs - Imbalance while walking - Numbness in hands and feet - Reduced memory - Poor vision - Confusion and mental disorientation - Decreased Hb levels

Sometimes symptoms may be present even if the report shows B12 levels between 200–300 pg/mL. In such cases, Methylmalonic Acid or Homocysteine tests are useful.
