Why repeat an ECG? "I just had one done yesterday!"

1. An ECG shows the heart's condition at that moment – yesterday's report doesn't apply today. 2. The heart doesn't behave the same every day – symptoms may appear later. 3. If there was no discomfort during the ECG, the report might appear normal. 4. Mild blockages may not show up on an ECG. 5. Some heart attacks are "silent" – ECG can miss them. 6. True information is obtained only when ECG is done during symptoms. 7. "Normal ECG = everything is fine" is a misconception. 8. If symptoms worsen, repeating the ECG is necessary. 9. Timely ECG means timely diagnosis and treatment. 10. Every ECG reveals important details about the heart – don't ignore it.
