10 Important Points About Rice for Diabetes Patients

1. Avoid white rice – it has a very high Glycemic Index. 2. Parboiled rice is a better option – it causes a slower rise in Blood sugar. 3. Limit rice quantity – about ½ cup or approximately 100 grams. 4. Choose millets like jowar, bajra, ragi instead of rice – they have more fiber and help control sugar. 5. Eat protein (lentils, yogurt) and vegetables along with rice – this reduces Blood sugar spikes. 6. Avoid aromatic or sticky rice varieties – they have a higher Glycemic Load. 7. Rice is easy to digest but causes hunger quickly – which may lead to overeating. 8. Avoid eating rice at night – less activity then causes sugar to rise. 9. Eat brown rice in limited amounts – it has fiber but also high carbs. 10. Never eat rice "just because" when not hungry – distinguish between hunger and habit.

Proper use of rice like this can be a helpful measure for Diabetes control.
