Want Continuous Success? Learn to Celebrate It
Want continuous success? Then learn to celebrate success.
Celebrate every small success. Habits stick because the brain considers them a “reward.” (B.J. Fogg - “Emotions create habits.”)
When patients control their BP and I openly praise them, they don’t forget their routine check-ups. This is the power of positive emotion.
1. Completed today’s walk? Look in the mirror and say to yourself, “Well done!”
2. Avoided junk food despite hunger? Toast yourself with your favorite healthy drink.
3. Got good BP/Sugar readings? Have a small celebration and spend quiet time with family.
4. Ate home-cooked food regularly for one week? Then sincerely pat yourself on the back.
5. Made some change today on doctor’s advice? Send a “Thank you” message to that advice.
When the brain receives emotional pleasure, it remembers that behavior and the habit becomes strong.
What small celebration can you have? Comment to inspire others.
