No Joy, No Sorrow: Understanding Emotional Numbness
No joy... no sorrow... Emotional numbness. Feeling nothing at all – is this normal?
Earlier, small things brought joy... Sometimes, tears would come too...
Now, everything is there... But nothing stirs inside.
Neither joy... nor sorrow... Just a feeling of "emptiness."
1. What exactly is this? This is not weakness... This is Emotional Numbness.
Emotions don't end... They just become "quiet" for a while.
2. Why does this happen? The mind constantly endures stress. Emotions are suppressed. Loneliness and fatigue accumulate.
And a time comes when The mind protects itself.
A "feel nothing now" mode begins.
3. Subtle Signs * Loss of interest in favorite things. * Feeling disconnected even when among people. * Reduced reactions. * Inability to understand "what am I feeling?"
4. What does the body say? * Low energy. * Lack of desire to do anything. * Changes in sleep patterns. * Feeling of emptiness in the chest.
The mind appears calm... But internally, it is disconnected.
5. An important realization "I feel nothing at all" This is not a problem...
This is a signal That the mind is exhausted from enduring too much.
6. What to do? It takes time for emotions to be felt again.
* Don't force yourself. * Notice small things. * Maintain your routine, even if your mind isn't willing. * Talk to someone, even if words are few.
And sometimes... Counselling helps a lot.
Having worked on the borderline of life and death for over 25 years... I have closely observed patients' emotions, relationships, and fatigue.
Every day, I realize that Treatment is important... But understanding is even more important.
That's why today Many people come forward to talk and be understood.
The difference between feeling calm and feeling nothing at all must be understood.
Do you ever feel this way?
Sometimes... Just having someone listen is also a form of treatment.
