Liver Health
Fatty Liver? It's Becoming the New Normal, But This Normal Is Dangerous!
Fatty Liver? It has now become a common finding on sonography as Grade 1 Fatty Liver. However, this is just the beginning. To prevent progression, timely lifestyle changes are essential!
1. Follow the 'No Food Rule' after 8 PM. Fasting for 12–14 hours puts the liver into repair mode. [Harvard Medical School Intermittent fasting improves liver fat metabolism, 2019]
2. Remember 'No Sugar, No Syrup'. Fructose (found in juice, soft drinks) increases liver fat. [Journal of Hepatology High fructose intake linked to NAFLD, 2021]
3. Daily brisk walking is mandatory! Walking more than 7,000 steps improves liver enzymes. [Clinical Gastroenterology Hepatology, 2016 Exercise reduces ALT & liver fat]
4. Reduce rice intake, choose Whole Grains instead. Jowar, Bajra, Oats help glycemic control and reduce liver inflammation. [Diabetes Care, 2020 Whole grains reduce insulin resistance & NAFLD]
5. Increase Protein intake to 1 gm/kg daily. Paneer, sprouts, lentils, eggs help burn fat and preserve muscle. [Nutrition Reviews, 2022 High protein diets improve liver fat oxidation]
6. Losing 5–7% of body weight leads to significant liver improvement! It is clinically proven that weight loss stops liver fibrosis. [Lancet Gastroenterology Hepatology, 2019 , 5–7% weight loss reverses NAFLD]
Start these two things today. Be consistent rather than perfect. Fatty liver can change, I have seen this in thousands of patients!
