Is Wheat Only for Chapati? Discover Hidden Wheat Sources in Your Diet
Is wheat only for chapati?
Wheat is often thought of as just chapati, roti, or paratha. But in reality, wheat is hidden in many places in our diet, and we consume it daily without realizing it.
Look at where wheat hides in your daily meals and snacks: 1. Breakfast toast or sandwich bread: white, brown, multigrain—all based on wheat. 2. Tea-time biscuits: whether glucose biscuits or cookies, mostly made from refined flour/wheat. 3. Pasta, noodles, Maggi: primarily refined wheat. 4. Cakes, pastries, pizzas: all made from maida (refined wheat flour). 5. Bhel, chaat, namkeen: sev, papdi, puri—all wheat-based. 6. Burgers, rolls, patties: buns and covers made from wheat/maida. 7. Soups and sauces: wheat flour is used to thicken them. 8. Homemade snacks: chakli, mathri, salty biscuits often made from wheat flour.
So remember, if you are thinking of reducing or stopping wheat, just stopping chapati is not enough. You need to pay attention to these hidden sources of wheat on your plate for a real change.
