Lipid Profile Is Not Just a Report… It’s Your Heart’s Diary!

How many times have you done a blood test and just kept the report in a drawer? And how often have you looked back at those old reports?

This is the difference between preventive and reactive care.

1. Don’t just look at one report, look at serial readings. One day’s cholesterol doesn’t tell much. But reports over 6 months or 1 year show how your lifestyle is improving or worsening. Look at the trend, not just the number.

2. Total Cholesterol is important, but it’s not everything. Don’t just see if the number is low or high. Understand the ratios: Total / HDL Ratio: < 4 is good, < 3 is ideal. LDL / HDL Ratio: < 2 is excellent. Triglyceride / HDL Ratio: < 3 is safe.

These ratios indicate whether there is a balance between good fat and bad fat in your body.

3. HDL is your ‘Heart Protector’. The higher the HDL, the stronger the heart protection. Keep it at least 40 (men) and 50 (women). If HDL is low, increase exercise and reduce stress.

4. LDL is your ‘Block Maker’. The higher the LDL, the greater the risk of blockage. Ideal: <100 mg/dl, but for heart patients, keeping it <70 mg/dl is safer.

5. Triglycerides reflect your diet and sugar intake. If there is a sudden rise, note that it’s not just fat but a metabolic alarm. Ideal: <150 mg/dl, but watch the trend.

6. Non-HDL Cholesterol is a simple calculation and an effective indicator. Total – HDL = Non-HDL Keep it below 130. This number shows the overall risk.

7. Understand the story from the ratios. If HDL is increasing and other numbers are decreasing, you are on the right path. But if HDL is decreasing and Triglycerides are rising, it’s time to rethink your lifestyle!

8. Serial readings show you the trend. Last year vs This year: • Has Triglyceride decreased or increased? • Is HDL stable or decreased? • How much has LDL changed?

9. There is a huge difference between those who track and those who don’t. A patient who tracks is in prevention mode. One who doesn’t is in surprise mode. And the heart doesn’t like surprises.

Take out your old reports, read the story in them, and track your next report with Just For Hearts. What you see changes, and what changes lasts! ❤️
