OMAD (One Meal A Day) – A New Fitness Trend Rooted in Our Centuries-Old Tradition
OMAD (One Meal A Day) is a new fitness trend, but it is actually rooted in our centuries-old tradition of 'Ekabhukti' practiced during Shravan.
1. One meal a day – Ekabhukti observed in Shravan is now globally recognized as OMAD.
2. Meal Timing: A balanced thali between 12 PM and 2 PM.
3. Throughout the day: water, lemon water, herbal tea, buttermilk/chaas.
4. Benefits: Can reduce insulin resistance, improve inflammation markers, decrease weight and bloating.
5. Side effects: Initially fatigue and acidity; caution if you have low BP or a tendency for sugar drops.
6. When to stop: Immediately stop if you experience persistent weakness, dizziness, low sugar, or discomfort. Avoid if pregnant, lactating, adolescent, or seriously ill.
7. Diabetes / Heart patients: Follow your regular doctor's advice before trying.
8. My experience: I have personally followed this method for the last 7–8 years during Shravan and have benefited.
9. Try a 30-day fitness challenge this Shravan with Ekabhukti – your body and mind will feel lighter.
