Do You Really Need a Multivitamin? Understanding When It's Necessary

Just For Hearts1 min read

"Doctor, please give me at least one multivitamin!" Have you ever made this request?

Nowadays, multivitamins are commonly seen in every prescription. Sometimes doctors prescribe them, but often patients ask for them on their own.

But do all of us really need multivitamins? Let's understand briefly:

1. Multivitamins are necessary only if there is a deficiency (like B12, D3, etc.) or a specific illness.

2. They can be useful in old age, poor appetite, irritability, or during recovery.

3. Starting a pill just because of mild fatigue or "bad mood" is not appropriate – find the root cause.

4. "I don't eat well, so give me a pill" – this does not apply to everyone. If diet improves, the need for pills decreases.

5. Excess intake of some vitamins (A, D, E, K) can accumulate in the body and cause harm or problems.

6. One pill cannot serve everyone – age, diet, illness, and medications vary.

7. Avoid starting the same pill just because a neighbor took it and felt better.

8. Multivitamins are boosters, not primary medicines. They cannot replace treatment.

9. The list of pills increases with "keep this going too," but no benefit is felt.

10. Doctors prescribe multivitamins only for valid reasons – taking them without need means unnecessary pills and unnecessary expense.

Multivitamins are treatment only when needed. Taking them without need becomes just a habit.
